Riverhead – Screening to open the Nickel Independent Film Festival

Riverhead will open the Nickel Independent Film Festival.

The screening will be at the LSPU Hall in St. John’s, on Tuesday, June 20th – alongside a couple of shorts. Should be a good opening night, and I’m sure a party is to follow.

The film is an atmospheric, minimalistic drama following a blood feud in a small Newfoundland town. It features an original soundtrack by the acclaimed Norwegian group Ulver, and was nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards this year (Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor). Local cast headed by Lawrence Barry, and rounded out by Stephen Oates, Evan Mercer, Allison Moira Kelly, Stephen Lush, Des Walsh, Michelle Rex, and Andrew Kay. Be forewarned, there is lots of colourful language.

“Claustrophobic, bleak and minimalist.” – Wire Magazine (UK)
“Slender, impressively naturalistic.” – Times Colonist (CA)
