Duane Andrews and members of the NAC Orchestra

The NAC presents Duane Andrews with members of the National Arts Centre Orchestra at The Rocket Room, St. John’s, NL, on Wednesday, April 26th at 8pm. Duane Andrews (guitar) and the National Arts Centre Orchestra’s Yosuke Kawasaki (violin), Carissa Klopoushak (violin), David Marks (viola), Rachel Mercer (cello) and Sean Rice (clarinet) will take you on a musical adventure where guitar and chamber ensemble meet jazz and traditional music from Newfoundland and Labrador. Tickets are $20/$10 students and seniors (plus taxes and fees), and available at: danac.brownpapertickets.com.

About Duane Andrews
Duane Andrews’ music is the product of a great ear, an adventurous spirit and a love of music that is beyond category. Uniting what would seem to be impossible – traditional Newfoundland music with the swing jazz of the legendary Django Reinhardt, Andrews makes it not just work – he makes it soar. The Juno award winning producer, composer, guitarist and international performer’s latest album, Conception Bay, is the best evidence yet of his truly unique musical vision and is the sound of him, literally, bringing it all back home.

In addition to the Rocket Room event on the evening of April 26, and in cooperation with the National Arts Centre Orchestra and the Newfoundland Symphony Youth Orchestra, the Rotary Music Festival is presenting a special student’s concert featuring members of both orchestras directed by NAC Orchestra Music Director Alexander Shelley. Among the special guests for this event will be world-renowned violinist James Ehnes, clarinet phenom and St. John’s native, Sean Rice and the amazing Duane Andrews. They’ll be performing a newly commissioned piece – composed by Duane Andrews – for the Rotary Music Festival. This special concert will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Holy Heart Theatre beginning at 1:00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for festival participants to be exposed to the fabulous world of orchestral music and experience incredible music making by outstanding artists.
