St. John’s Convention Centre: Ready to Host Your Event
Opened in May 2016, the expanded St. John’s Convention Centre has made our city – already a great host city – an even better one. This 60 million dollar expansion to the existing Convention Centre doubled its capacity, expanded westward, and created a direct link to the Delta St. John’s Hotel, providing 100,000 square feet under one roof. With a minimum 47,000 square feet of divisible function and meeting space, 18 meeting rooms, and large crush area, our new and improved Convention Centre is something to be excited about.
Inside this historic World War I naval wireless station, Admiralty House Museum offers a 390 square foot space for smaller meetings or workshops for up to 40 people. Located 15 minutes from downtown St. John’s in the town of Conception Bay South, the centre features science exhibits related to the biology, geology, and human history of Manuels River. The 2,400 sq.ft.reception hall, has plenty of natural light, a treed view facing the river and a vaulted wooden beam ceiling, and can host 225 for a stand-up reception and 140 for a seated dinner. The theatre can host 52 people and the Discovery Room, with direct access to the lovely grounds, can host up to 50 people, so there is plenty of flexibility in the space for a number of groups.
Memorial University of Newfoundland is situated within the City of St. John’s, and is only a seven-minute drive from the international airport and the downtown area. Part of the campus lies within a beautiful 3,500-hectare park with a botanical garden, walking trails, golf courses, ponds, a splash facility, and a campground. MUN Botanical Garden’s conference room is a unique, scenic environment, ideal for smaller groups holding meetings, workshops,conferences, and seminars. Bookings are available year-round. During the Garden’s open season (May 1 – November 30) meeting attendees may visit the flower gardens and nature trails free of charge. Art exhibits are often on display in the conference room from May to November.

The Rocket Room is a 2000 sq. ft. daily rental venue located on the third floor of Rocket Bakery & Fresh Food at 272 Water St., in the heart of historic St. John’s, Newfoundland. A warm, alternative space, the Rocket Room exudes the history of the building in which it is housed: the Neyle-Soper Building. Built around 1895, the building was a hardware store until its closure in 1989, when the building underwent a complete heritage restoration from 1998-2001, receiving a Southcott Award from The Newfoundland Historic Trust.
Three floors above the hustle and bustle of Rocket Bakery & Fresh Food, the Rocket Room offers a unique room with original wood floors and exposed brick walls, unobstructed by beams the length of the space. Ideal for receptions, meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops and film production. Depending on the event, the Rocket Room can accommodate up to 150 people.

The Masonic Temple is home to Spirit of Newfoundland, one of Newfoundland’s most successful musical theatre, performance, and food and beverage companies. The Temple was built 114 years ago and is the oldest fraternal brick structure in the province. It is also the only heritage building in the downtown that can host groups.
