The Petty Harbour Mini Aquarium is the first catch-and-release aquarium in the Province of Newfoundland & Labrador. Situated within the local fisherman’s cooperative building, our modest space comes to life each season with up to thirty live animal displays, exhibits and hands-on educational programming. Our marine habitats help bring the ocean to eye level, allowing visitors to get up-close to both common and little known local species.

A unique experience awaits everyone who visits, whether you are learning about squid anatomy, exploring whale biology, or just watching sea urchins go about their daily business. Get your hands wet in our seven touch tanks, where curious minds can discover and hold a variety of invertebrate animals from the intertidal zone. And the best part of the Mini Aquarium? We return all of the animals and plants back into the ocean areas from which they were collected.

The Mini Aquarium is open to the public seven days a week from 10 am to 6 pm, June to September. Off-season marine educational outreach programs are available from October to April by request.
