The Rooms

Steeped in history, brimming with artistic creativity — modern and welcoming — The Rooms is an all-encompassing Newfoundland and Labrador experience. At The Rooms, you’ll find exhibitions, programs, and interactive activities that tell the province’s stories through art, artifacts, archaeology, architecture, and archival records.

Museum

Our museum tells the stories of this place and its diverse peoples. Over a million specimens and artifacts bring these stories to life, connecting us with our past and the environment that has both shaped our experiences and been changed by our presence.

Don’t miss our award-winning permanent exhibition Beaumont-Hamel and the Trail of the Caribou: Newfoundlanders and Labradorians at War and at Home 1914-1949. Housed in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment Gallery, the exhibition opened on July 1, 2016, on the 100th Anniversary of Beaumont-Hamel.

Art Gallery

Experience art in all its forms at The Rooms. Two floors of art galleries with 10,000 square feet of exhibit space make it the place to see selections from over 7,000 works in the permanent collection and travelling exhibits from around the world.

Archives

Our archives keep the historical record of the people places and events of the oldest colony in North America. With documents dating back to 1662, hundreds and thousands of photographs and one-of-a-kind maps, the collections are an endless source of discovery and fascinating research.
