An afternoon matinee in a baby-friendly environment for parents and caregivers. Enjoy socially distanced seating in our comfy theatre seats, foam squares on the floor for baby to nap or play, and surround sound kept at a lower volume – to protect little ears. Join us this fall when our films are all about women!
Women in the spotlight: These are films where women and their stories take centre stage, including some big-budget action flicks and a sci-fi thriller just in time for Halloween!
Amy (2015): Asif Kapadia’s 90′ minutes documentary on the six-time Grammy-winner will feature previously unseen archive footage and seek to tell the London performer’s tragic story in her own words. Amy Winehouse died from alcoholic poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27.
Kapadia: “Amy was a once-in-a-generation talent who captured everyone’s attention. She wrote and sung from the heart and everyone fell under her spell. But tragically Amy seemed to fall apart under the relentless media attention, her troubled relationships, her global success, and precarious lifestyle. As a society, we celebrated her huge success but then we were quick to judge her failings when it suited us.”
