A warm and wonderful conversation with Lillian Bouzane, Helen Fogwill Porter, and Bernice Morgan, hosted by Marnie Parsons. Get the stories behind the stories from three monumental writers who have illuminated Newfoundland histories across generations. Snacks and refreshments provided. ABOUT THE WRITERS:

Acclaimed novelist, short story writer, poet, and essayist, Lillian Bouzane was born in Newfoundland and studied at Memorial and Laval Universities and has two academic degrees. She was an administrator with the government, NTA, and CBC. She is now a full-time writer.

Helen Fogwill Porter is an award-winning and beloved Newfoundland author and activist. She was a founding member of the St. John’s Status of Women Council, and was awarded the Order of Canada in 2015. She has published many novels and essays, most recently Full Circle, a collection of poetry published by Breakwater Books.

Renown for her first novel, Random Passage and its sequel, Waiting for Time, Bernice Morgan is an Order of Canada inductee. She now has five novels now published as recently at October 2018’s Seasons Before the War, in which she recounts her childhood in St. John’s between the World Wars to the illustrations of Brita Granstrom.

Marnie Parsons is the force behind Running the Goat, Books & Broadsides. She lives in Tors Cove, with two bad cats and a view of the water. Her first children’s book, PB’s Comet, was published by Running the Goat in 2018, with illustrations by Veselina Tomova.
