As the days get shorter, the St. John’s region trades patio season for something just as good: the art of getting cozy.

Some of the coziest stays in the region are just minutes from downtown.
At the Monastery Spa Hotel, some suites come with whirlpool tubs, and a full-service spa is right on site. Book a treatment, settle in, and let the evening take care of itself.
In the west end of downtown, JAG Hotel is home to Revival Wellness Centre, offering massages, facials, and other spa services. Spend the afternoon being pampered, then stay in for dinner at Exile or live music at the Soundhouse without ever stepping outside.
Leaside Manor on Topsail Road offers celebration suites with fireplaces and double jacuzzis, made for a slow night in.

Prefer a place with a story? The Postmaster’s House is a restored Victorian home near the harbour, just a short walk from downtown. Each of its rooms is decorated in period style, with modern comforts throughout.
In Quidi Vidi Village, Mallard Inn offers suites across two guest houses built in the traditional saltbox style. The brewery, artisan studios, and hiking trails are all on your doorstep, so after a day of wandering, you’re only steps from bed.

When you want the ocean all to yourself, head out of town.
Perched on the cliffs of Bauline South, Cliffs Edge Retreat overlooks the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, with sweeping Atlantic views. Warm up in the cedar barrel sauna or a private hot tub in select suites, then sit down to dinner at Forager, the on-site restaurant known for its locally foraged, seasonal menus.
Less than an hour from St. John’s on the Southern Shore, The Cape is a six-cabin culinary and wilderness retreat overlooking the North Atlantic. Stays are built around quiet, craft, and wild-ingredient dining with Chef Alex Blagdon.
Farther along the Baccalieu Trail, George House Heritage Bed & Breakfast in Dildo dates back to 1885. It looks out over fishing stages and traditional homes, pairing coastal charm with a warm welcome.

Not looking for an overnight? In Colliers, A Little Cup of Sea offers a four-hour seaside escape in a cozy beach hut. Pull up a chair by the woodstove with a pot of locally blended tea and watch the waves roll in.
Pour another cup, pull the blanket a little higher, and let the season wrap around you. There’s no rush to be anywhere else.
