The fog rolls in off the harbour. A streetlight flickers on an old lane downtown. In a city this old, every corner has a story, and in October, the stories get a little darker.
Halloween in the St. John’s region is spooky, silly, and completely its own. Here’s how to celebrate.

Some of the oldest streets in North America have plenty of secrets to share. St. John’s Walking Tours leads this haunted pub crawl through the city’s history, superstitions, tragedies, and strange happenings. There are pub stops along the way to settle your nerves. 19+.
On a 200-year-old farm in the middle of the city, the trails take on a different feel after sunset. O’Brien Farm’s After Dark Haunted Trail Hike leads small groups through the woods to eerie performances inspired by Irish-Newfoundland folklore.

Once Halloween is over, give your jack-o’-lantern one last night to shine. On November 1, the City of St. John’s lines The Loop in Bannerman Park with glowing pumpkins for a free evening of music, a live DJ, pop-up performances, and hot chocolate.
