Making tracks in freshly fallen snow is one of the most satisfying things about cross country skiing. The other is immersing yourself in the natural beauty that Pippy Park has to offer. Will you choose the gentle groomed trails within the trailer park or the more advanced, twisting trails around Three Pond Barrens?

Take in the view at Signal Hill or Cape Spear or immerse yourself in the village vibe and explore Quidi Vidi Village, The Battery, Torbay or Petty Harbour for stunning rural scenery. The colours of Jellybean Row somehow seem to pop a little bit brighter with a dusting of snow, so be sure to put a walk downtown on your list.

The Grand Concourse walking map
For a child, nothing beats a day of sliding with the family—and Bowring Park will not disappoint. Just bring your sled, toboggan, or saucer and pick your favourite hill. Centrally located in the West End of St. John’s, you won’t have far to go for a cup of hot chocolate to warm up afterwards.

Whether with the family or that special someone, gliding around the Loop at Bannerman Park is a must-do winter activity in St. John’s. This outdoor skating rink is located in the center of St. John’s, making it a top see (and skate) experience.

Cycling through your favourite local trails buried in snow offers a whole new perspective on riding. Popular spots to fat bike in St. John’s include Pippy Park and The Virginia River Trail.
