Welcome to a Night at the Rooms! A magical event where you’ll be transcended to another world. This immersive experience will make you feel like you, too, can soar above the clouds.

A Night at the Rooms is an annual event held in partnership with the St. John’s International Circus Fest (SJICF), Wonderbolt Circus, and the Rooms. This year it was directed by Olaf Triebel and hosted by \garbagefile.

Once you arrived at the venue, you were free to roam. All around you were actors, acrobats, and circus folk performing. You were completely immersed in the circus! Then when the show started, you could choose to watch from as high or low as you wanted.

My favourite thing about the event was that it was everywhere. It didn’t take place in one area but throughout the whole building. It allowed everyone to enjoy the show regardless of where they were standing. Plus, depending on where you were, it gave you a unique perspective of the show.

The show officially started with \garbagefile’s character’s introduction. The show follows their journey to self-discovery.

There were several acts throughout the night. World-renowned artists and circus groups from Montreal and Europe dazzled the stage. Some of these included Les 7 doigts de la main, Look Up Aerials, Tigris, Nadine Louis and Catherine Girard, and Anke van Engelshoven. Plus a surprise performance from Barbra Bardot!

The show was filled with nonsense, laughter, audible gasps, and pure disbelief.

It was truly a phenomenal and amazing event. You won’t want to miss it next year!

I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of the rehearsal, here are some behind-the-scenes shots!
