DANCE on TOUR – in Newfoundland and Labrador!
NDW and the Arts and Culture Centres are delighted to co-present Ballet Kelowna in a provincial NL tour from May 12 – 30. Don’t miss this exceptional evening of ballet with works by three extraordinary Canadian ballet choreographers.
The program opens with taqeš by Tla’amin Nation choreographer Cameron Fraser-Monroe to music by composer Jeremy Dutcher, which tells the traditional story “Raven Returns the Water”, centred around p̓oho (raven) and walθ (frog).
Followed by Bolero, by renowned choreographer, Guillaume Cote of the National Ballet of Canada – which brings strength and fragility to a fascinating interpretation of Maurice Ravel’s famous Bolero. A riveting piece with impeccable partnering and breathtaking lifts.
Finally, closing the program is, MAMBO by Alysa Pires, which draws the crowd to Latin, swing, and jazz rhythms performed by musical legends such as Dean Martin, Perry Como, and others.
