Hosted in person and virtually!

Join artist Hanna Furs for a Motanka doll workshop. In the workshop, we will learn about ancient Ukrainian traditions and the rules of making a motanka doll. Create your charm doll or angel that will make an excellent decoration for your home and Christmas. A motanka-doll is one of the types of craft used in household magic, an amulet that will protect against diseases and evil. Motanka brings success, abundance, and well-being to home. This workshop will be held hybrid style, with space in-person at the CCNL Gallery and streamed live for remote attendance.

About the Venue

The Craft Council Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of 155 Water street in Downtown St John’s, NL.

From the Water Street entrance: There is a set of glass doors (width of 48 inches). They lead into the main hallway of the building, where you will find the black double gate (width of 58 inches) leading to the Shop & Pantry on your immediate right, and a door leading to the Gallery ahead of you on the far right. Through the doors, you will find stairs and an elevator (the door is 31 inches wide) that will lead you to the second floor where the gallery is located. No entrances leading to the gallery have buttons to press to automatically open the doors and all require someone to physically (manually) open them at this time.

The washroom is just to the left of the elevator on the second floor the doorways to the washroom are 36 inches wide and have a push button. The washroom is approximately 6 feet by 5 feet.

The staff in both The Shop & Pantry and The Gallery are pleased to help you if you need assistance.

The Gallery has developed the Whisperer program for visually impaired and blind persons, please let us know if you would like us to accompany you and give you the full experience of the space; we will gladly give you a private tour of the exhibitions!
