Picture this: You walk into a 17th Century kitchen with the hearth a blaze. A costumed interpreter greets you with a smile and invites you to the table. You and your group sit down and learn to bake bread the old fashioned way– the REALLY old fashioned way.

The next day you find yourself nestled into the forest, surrounded by wildflowers, learning about agriculture in the modern day. You finish your day with a real farm lunch, your head filled with ideas of how you’ll bring what you’ve learned back to your home.

Join Colony of Avalon and O’Brien Farm Foundation for a unique weekend of culinary, historical, and agricultural events.

Then & Now is a new festival celebrating Newfoundland’s culinary, homesteading, and agricultural traditions of the past, present and future. Each day of this two-day event will feature two hours of workshops followed by a meal, with the first day held at Colony of Avalon in Ferryland (Then), and the second day held at O’Brien Farm (Now). Workshops will focus on small-scale culinary and agricultural skills from the past and present that participants can use in their own homes for years to come.

The best part– Transportation is provided! So you don’t need to worry about getting to and from Ferryland or St. John’s.
