Delicious Candy-Coloured Walkways

Walking through the historic part of downtown will leave you feeling like a kid in a candy store as our jellybean row houses flood the streets and can make any foggy day feel bright and sunny.

This walk can take you to our quaint local shops and speak-easy bars and then even a bit further to the picturesque fishing village of Quidi Vidi, which we lovingly call “The Gut”. Located just on the outskirts of St. John’s, here you can enjoy a pint at a local craft brewery and bite into the best seafood, wild game and produce available at one of “Canada’s 100 best restaurants”.

Splash Around with the Locals

Being surrounded by the beautiful North Atlantic brings many visitors to our shores both big and small. Hop onboard a boat tour to visit the tiny Atlantic puffin as they patter beside towering 10,000-year-old icebergs that waltz down “iceberg alley” along with thousands of humpback whales. We like to refer to our coastline as Mother Nature’s theatre, but obviously showtimes can vary.

If you would like to get even closer, paddle your way out on a guided kayak tour through the caves and sea stacks or spend a day at sea becoming one of the “by’s” and go on the hunt for cod aboard a fishing charter.

All Trails Lead to the Ocean

Get a true birds-eye view of St. John’s from the top of Signal Hill. While here enjoy the sea breeze as you hike beside the historic cabot tower along the famous trails that will wind you through the cliffs to the rainbow houses that line our harbour.

After a day on your feet you will want to unwind with a hot meal and some good tunes. George Street is where you should find yourself. Lined with the most bars per capita, George St. is home to “Canada’s Favourite Bar” where the pub fare is as good as the craft brews and live bands. Along this strip of St. John’s you will also be welcomed to become an Honorary Newfoundlander.
